Anime Review: Orange (オレンジ)

One day, Naho Takamiya receives a letter written to herself from ten years in the future. As Naho reads on, the letter recites the exact events of the day, including the transfer of a new student into her class named Kakeru Naruse.

The Naho from ten years later repeatedly states that she has many regrets, and she wants to fix these by making sure the Naho from the past can make the right decisions—especially regarding Kakeru. What’s more shocking is that she discovers that ten years later, Kakeru will no longer be with them. Future Naho asks her to watch over him closely.

Hobby: Creative Planning

According to Merriam Dictionary the meaning of Planning is “the act or process of making a plan to achieve or do something.”  Using a journal or jotting down your plans into your planner is one way to plan your activities but taking up to the next level is called Creative Planning. So what is Creative Planning? It is the way where you put an effort on your planner by having a personal touch like designs such as stickers and washi tapes. It is one of the most popular hobbies as of now because it gives a different feeling and accomplishment as you did a specific page on your planner. You can try different styles like black and white, fairy theme, unicorn ones, gold ones or anything you wanted that makes it a very nice hobby since a lot of shops have been offering a lot of themed stickers for you planners but if you preferred to do DIYs on your planner, it is still okay as long as you are using your planner. Remember the best planner is the one that is functional!

So how did I end up with this hobby? As what I had said on my post about the PCPH Meet-up, I got into Creative Planning  when I am searching some DIYs and stuffs on Instagram. I discovered washi tapes and then the Planner Community. I really enjoy this kind of hobby since it gives me a relaxation and break from my stressful 5th year College life. Seriously, it was stressing me out but just by having a hobby can make a difference. It will keep your mind into a different phase and stuffs for a moment.

So what are the basics of Creative Planning or what are the things that you needed when you are in this hobby?

First of, you need a planner and a pen. It is not important on what brand it is as long as you use it. There are actually different types of planner, a ring bound planner, disc types and hard bounds. For the size, it really depends on you. If you prefer on the go planners, you should use personal size ones or pocket ones but if you really like designing on bigger space, you need the A4 ones or large size planners.

Her are some of the sizes:

Then the design is actually up to you. You could write down first your plans on a paper so you could see whether you need to minimize or maximize your designs. You could use washi tapes, stamps, markers, themed stickers, ordinary stickers, card stocks or any material that you have. There is no restriction on your type of design since your the one who owns the planner! Do anything that you wanted and express yourself.

If you will ask me on how I feel in this kind of hobby, I will say that it is really addicting. You will always have a way on how you will design every week’s page on a different theme. Don’t worry if you haves seen others with beautiful designs ones. When I am skimming the pages on my planner and seeing my old IG post, it really made an improvement on how I design now. It takes time of course and passion to achieve the thing that you wanted. It is not important on how expensive the tools or the things to make it a great piece of work. You could do mix and match or try different kinds of styles. Of course you should not forget to have fun while doing this!

What’s my other story? As you know, I’ve been a fan of Anime and started collecting stuffed toys then I got into books. After some time, I started the hobby of Creative Planning this year 2016 of April. You can follow me on my Planner Instagram account ! My username is @crafty.yell.

What’s the planner that I am using? I am actually using an unbranded personal sized planner that I bought from Pandayan Bookshop for about Php 200  or $ 4 only. I just added the sticker on the front cover. (Recollections Bohemian Rub-on Stickers)

I am also using a passport size catdori from TheCatbx

Unluckily there was an event about Planners just this month, it is a grand meet! I am still sulking whenever I see post related to it. Sigh!

That’s all for now! Just remember to enjoy and have fun! It is important and of course make your planner functional!

Event: PCPH Planner Party 2016

I am a girl who loves to do and create things. I do DIYs and any form that has something to do with creativity. YouTube and Pinterest has been my inspiration for having so many ideas and tutorials. Social media has affected our lives and for me, after joining Instagram, I actually discovered more ideas and communities that I had interest on. At first, I just posted DIY photos but after searching more related photos about it, I saw these decorative tapes which I found out to be called as washi tapes. After discovering these washi tapes, other other photos linked was the #planning and that is the story on how I discovered the Planner Community. I did a separate Instagram Account with the username @crafty.yell to post more photos related to the planner stuffs. I had joined several groups on Facebook and one of them is the Planner Community Philippines (PCPH). They actually held an event just last week of Saturday (September 17, 2016) and I was so lucky to be a part of their September Planner Party.

The event take place in the Proudcloud HQ in Economia Street, Bagumbayan Quezon City. A lot of planner pals and shops were gathered for the sake of Planning! The ambiance was too much too take because of all the planner goodies and people with the same passion about Planning is there. Isn’t it so much fun? They do giveaways, shared tips and host games for the attendees!

In one of the games, we are divided into groups (My group mates were Ate Dheth, Ate C.M, Ate Toni P. and Ate Toni V.) and we were told to do an impromptu planner spread with just the resources that we have. It was actually a bit of rush since we were only given just few minutes to do it. We had a lot of ideas on our head and ended up having a week spread inspired with Animals and Gold.

For the Planning Tips Session, Ms. Eraizza gave some tips for designing our planner spreads. Some of what I remember are:

1. Try focusing on one or a specific theme like if it is mermaids, use some materials such as stickers, stamps or any other resources that have a touch of the theme.
2. You could picture the work you have done and by doing that you could see clearly the modifications you wanted to do such as adding or re-positioning stickers depending on what you wanted it to be.
3. You could use Foam Board when you are taking a picture and it is recommended to take pictures on sunlight around 7 or 8 AM in the morning since the lightning is a way more clearer and brighter during that time.
Here is the planner stack that we have.

Here are the goodies that I got from the #PCPHPlannerParty2016:
I actually got the Early Bird Prize so I got this sticker sheet and washi tape.

I also won on the Bring Me Game and got these decorative tape.

In the giveaways, I won these stamps and notepads.

We also got an exchange gift and here is what I got.

My sticker haul:

Goodies from Ate C.M and Ate Toni (Thank you!):

Last but not the least is the loot box we got! I enjoy and love everything that were included in it.

I don’t have the picture of the box since I already opened it on the bus terminal. (Sigh!) I am just too excited…

(c) Joan Garcia

I really enjoy my first planner party! I was a bit hesitant on attending since it was a little far from Bulacan but it will be a waste for not attending it so I save up some money for my transportation. It’s a great experience since it was my first ever commuting and riding experience on a bus alone just by myself! So hooray for that! I am looking forward for more gatherings like this one and I want to thank the organizers and sponsors who made this event possible. I also want to thank my group mates Ate Dheth, Ate C.M, Ate Toni P. and Ate Toni V.. It was really fun and unforgettable experience!

[Spiritual Thursday]: We are the Light of the World

“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.”- Matthew 5:14

The Church is a city on a hill that everybody can see. A dwelling place for truth and fraternity. Church and Christians are light that cannot be reduced, diluted or be confused in any nature. Christianity is a light to the people to be able to see and feel the presence of the Lord.

The use of light throughout the verse shows some points. Being a light is much more than we could think of and this what the verse of Matthew 5:14 shows me:

1. Light gives brightness to darkness.
We could say that our life is in darkness until you met God with all your heart and soul. Try to imagine yourself walking in darkness. Isn’t it hard? There’s no hope and no light to guide us. You don’t know if there’s a wall you could lean on or if there’s a cliff that’s just a few centimeters away and at any moment you’ll end up on a great fall. God and the church are the light that pulls us from the darkness we have been but as one truly knows and understand of His grace and mercy will only receive this kind of enlightenment. We are like blind people who had seen for the first time. An exciting and thrilling moment that you will always remember since this made you clearly see what’s on your surroundings – a clearer and brighter path.

2. Light is there to be seen.
Have you ever known someone who put a light, maybe a candle, flashlight or any source of light, under a table or anywhere you couldn’t see it? We didn’t put any kind of light under a table or inside a box to hide this but it meant to be seen and be acknowledged. Light is there to be scattered and has its fullness to light the whole place. We must have this kind of trait that have the kindness and holiness in us must be seen and influence others. We should be a light that could light up others too.

3. Light couldn’t be hidden
It means that light is not just a thing that could be passed or ignored. When you see a light, you could always say it on your mind that it is a light. We should be like the light that is recognizable anywhere and at any circumstances that we have, recognizable in a way that we are His children. Nothing can stop you from being on His presence that all you have been doing and traits you have can always be seen with God’s grace.
We may have darkness on our soul and heart but the Word of God penetrates all of it with His inescapable light. All we have to do is to have faith on Him and trust His will.

Bookish Saturday [Book Review]: Beastly by Alex Flinn

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

BeastlyTitle : Beastly

Author: Alex Flinn

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance, Fiction, Fairy Tale

Rating: 3 and half

Beastly is a novel written by Alex Flinn. It is a different touch on our old time favorite fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. Who says beast can only be found in fairy tales? The setting happens in New York City with the main protagonist named Kyle Kingsbury. He’s a guy who has perfect looks, the fame, the money and anything you could think of but everything changes when he did something to the witch. He’s perfect life went upside down as he become a beast.

Seriously, I actually made a mistake reading the Beastly Lindy’s Diary first before the Beastly. I had some problems understanding the whole story of Beastly Lindy’s Diary since it was just a part of the main book which I only noticed after reading the whole of it.

Here’s the thing, Beastly is kind of a different twist on our classic fairy tale and one may not stop comparing the two of them but truthfully, the novel gives a little up-size on bringing it to the modern world with the use of other materials that added some appeal to the whole story. My only concern is that, I just found it a little bit on the stereotype mode since everything seems like to be plotted from the very beginning but despite of it, I still enjoyed the book and the characters.

Detailed Review:

  • Does the Title intrigue me or interests me

The title gives you an idea on what the story is all about so it’s kind of good.

  • Did I agree on some point of views on it?

Some. The transformation of Kyle to the new point of view of being a Beast is agreeable on some part. You can see the shift and difference as the story goes on.

  • Author’s style used in the book.

The spin off on our classical fairy tale was quite good but as what I had said, I found it on the stereotype mode where like everything seems to be plotted on the very beginning of it.

  • If the language or style used is convincing to define the character.

Sort of… You could feel or see who they really are. The storytelling of Kyle here is quite good and really defines him by the way he speaks and react to things.

  • If the characters were represented as what the story suggest.

I think so… Yes, they are.

  • If the ideas and concepts are clear.

Yes. Everything is laid in front of the reader.

  • Physical appearance of the book. (Cover, binding, layout format etc.)

It think the book cover is so creative! Love the rose stem that is formed by the letter “Y”.

  • If it successful in its goal or purpose of the story. (If it made me cry, laugh, inspired or the emotion that one should feel on the book

The story actually made me wonder because it’s kind of different from its modern touch. Seriously, I don’t know how to feel about the book. It lacks on this part since it doesn’t have much intense scenes and drama but still this book thought be different things so I guess it’s fine.

  • Favorite part of the story.

The chat group part was my favorite! It’s kind of funny and it gives a modern twist to the classic fairy tales.

  • What I don’t like from the story.

The lack of moments and scenes. The story was a little bit shallow.

  • Favorite Quote in the book.

“Just because something is beautiful doesn´t mean it´s good.”
Alex Flinn, Beastly

Of all the classic fairy tales, Beauty and the Beast is one of the tale I haven’t knew well. I read the story but I actually haven’t watched the whole film of it, so the novel Beastly made me quite hooked because of it. I am curious on how it will give a twist and touch. The whole idea of it was good but it lacks on some part but the book is still fun to read.

Beastly is actually a series but I just read the first and the Beastly Lindy’s Diary. Here are the other ones which are included in the series.

Crafty Friday: DIY Bookmark, Beastly Book and Movie Inspired

DIY’s are always fun to do especially when you wanted something to have your signature style on a specific thing you wanted to do. So last week, I finished the book Beastly by Alex Flinn and the movie adaptation of it with the same title so I decided to do a bookmark. (Book Review here) You could do your own bookmark to with just few materials.

Thing you will need:

Paper or Cardboard

Colored Paper (If you wanted)

Coloring Materials (If you wanted)

Washi Tapes

Prepare the paper or cardboard. Cut it according to any size you wanted in portrait. I used 6.2″ x 2.8″ on mine and the paper that I used is a Kraft paper.

IMG_20160901_234016 You could use washi tapes, colored paper, coloring materials or any other medium that you wanted to decorate your bookmark. I used washi tapes since it is more easier and faster to use plus it instantly gives color to the paper. I prefer taping it sideways since the effect of it is kind of cute for me. You could try any design, just mix and match it.

You could use stickers and other decals to add more design to your bookmark. Here, I used a rose since it is one of the main thing you could see on the Beastly. If you don’t have stickers, you could use magazines and cut the images that’s fit on your work.IMG_20160901_234251

Using marker, write your favorite quote from the book you wanted. (I actually used a calligraphy pen on this but I am still learning on how to use it so it ended up this way.)IMG_20160901_234341

Make a hole on the upper middle part of the bookmark and add yarn to it.

Just add some finishing touches and Viola! Your DIY Bookmark is done! Here’s my final product. What do you think?

You could try different sizes and shapes. Everything is up to you since it is your bookmark. You could do it for yourself or gave it to your friend. So what quote from a movie or book will you put on your bookmark? Let me know! Don’t afraid to comment!

Book Review: Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

Finding Audrey Cover JpegTitle : Finding Audrey

Author: Sophie Kinsella

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Fiction, Chic Lit

Rating: 4 star

Finding Audrey is a novel written by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Shopaholic Series, no other than Sophie Kinsella. This Novel focuses on Audrey, a teenage girl who suffers in an anxiety disorder which affects her daily life. This novel is a blend of comedy, romance and heartwarming moments that will make you inspire and entertain.

I actually got curious about this book because of its Title and cover. Who’s Audrey and what happened to her?, these were the thoughts I have before I read this book. I actually liked the whole book and it is a fell-good novel for me. This novel is all about an anxiety disorder of a teenage girl and how she overcomes all her fear in order to cure it. I find myself laughing and rolling my eyes on some parts because it felt so real and it’s like I encountered some of them that’s why I really liked it.What more good about this novel is that it focuses on the relationship and the significance of  family in life. This is highly recommended for those teen readers who wanted a very entertaining novel yet will make you dream and hope as you see Audrey’s life on how she lost herself and made it comeback again because of love. A truly inspiring novel that one must read.

Detailed Review:

  • Does the Title intrigue me or interests me

I started to read this book without reading the synopsis of it so I really have no idea what was all about.I actually thought Finding Audrey was like Paper Towns or  Looking For Alaska but I was wrong. It was different and Sophie Kinsella is so clever to titled it like that. I like the whole mysterious effect of it.

  • Did I agree on some point of views on it?

Yeah. I do agree a lot on the views of it. I actually experienced some of them and it felt so good to see positive and negative looks about Audrey’s experiences. The advices were good too and I find it really helpful.

  • Author’s style used in the book.

The style used was so creative! It felt like an all-in-one book, a therapeutic, a comedy, a love story and it was really entertaining.

  • If the language or style used is convincing to define the character.

Yes. She delivers it great for every character. Audrey, her mom, dad, brother and Linus have convincing characters. I really do like their mother because she was really funny and really entertaining. (Sorry, I’ve been using the word entertaining so much.)

  • If the characters were represented as what the story suggest.

Yes it do. They are all represented as what they should be.

  • If the ideas and concepts are clear.

The anxiety disorder, the game and other concepts were clearly stated.

  • Physical appearance of the book. (Cover, binding, layout format etc.)

I liked it! Simplicity is so great!

  • If it successful in its goal or purpose of the story. (If it made me cry, laugh, inspired or the emotion that one should feel on the book

Yes, it was successful in this part. I guess because it was a teen-novel, it was light and very heartwarming one that it made me dream, hope and made me inspired about the things that one might encountered. I learned a lot of things while reading this book and it also made me realized some things that I actually did past then and I might encounter.

  • Favorite part of the story.

Audrey’s moment with Linus when the were at Starbucks and they give names which was hard to spell. I really love that part.

  • What I don’t like from the story.

None. I liked every part of it!

  • Favorite Quote in the book.

“I think what I’ve realized is, life is all about climbing up, slipping down, and picking yourself up again. And it doesn’t matter if you slip down. As long as you’re kind of heading more or less upwards. That’s all you can hope for. More or less upwards.”
Sophie Kinsella, Finding Audrey
